Brick House CORE with only 2 exercises: Functional abs with kettlebells
Kettlebell Poster Link: moversodyssey.etsy.com
Website: www.moversodyssey.com
A truly strong core requires more than just abdominal work, it requires the integration of numerous muscles and connective tissues all working together. A useful core is one that protects the spine, has the mobility to move in all directions, and can create and transfer strength across the body. Too many core routines focus on only the visible abdominal muscles and not on the actual functional strength of the midsection. Kettlebells offer a great way to target the core in more of a functional manner.

    Back when I used to have a jog program around my neighborhood, there was always one point near the end, at the bottom of a long, long downwards street, like slightly more than a 45 degree incline. I would jog down to the bottom of the hill, take a small break to stretch a bit, and then try to sprint up the hill as fast as I could go. Always my favorite part of the run.

    Is it supposed to target my lower back in a way that makes it sore after i worked out?

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey 11 годин тому

      It can be sore in the beginning as your back gets used to it, but it could also be from improper form. Just make sure your not rounding your back, it should be a straight back and all the movement should be from a hip hinge.

    how heavy should the kettlebell be for the swings?

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey 22 години тому

      Depends on your size, experience and how good your form is. A lot of lifters have trouble at first because it's a ballistic lift instead of what they are used to which is isotonic lifting. So, many people go through a brief learning phase with 12kg (26lbs), then once the form is basically understood they move onto 16kg (35lbs) and really start to get some good work in and continue refining their form. If your looking to mainly do endurance work or to burn calories you can stay around 35lbs. But if your looking to build up the glutes and gain power, you can start moving up to 20kg (44lbs), 24kg(53lbs) and even past that if you stick with it for awhile. I never go past 53lbs for swings, but I only weigh 175lbs. I know a few guys walking around at 220lbs-240lbs who will eventually go up to 70-90 pounds. But it's not all that common. Hope this helps.

    Ok, all this healthy lifestyle is crap. I have healthy lifestyle, no smoke, no drinks, no overweight 2-3 times a week weight trainihg, 1-2 times a week MTB rides for 2-6 hrs (depends on busy). And my TST is literally zero. So it all depends on genetics whatever you do. Those designated to burn will not drown.

    One day I found my great-grandfather's old Soviet 24 kg kettlebell and decided to put it to the test. Before that, I had been working out with dumbbells and considered myself in good enough shape. But the kettlebell made me realize how weak I really am and how my cardio is non-existent. Just 100 kettlebell swings kicked my ass like I'm a baby wuss. I don't like the terms traditional and functional strength, but I've noticed that many explosive exercises with kettlebells allow you to use almost every muscle in your body to work together. Dumbbells and barbells are great, but the kettlebell training was just a game changer for me. They really help develop strength and endurance, and I'm not to mention the effectiveness of kettlebell swing to burn a huge amount of calories, which makes kettlebells a great piece of equipment for losing excess weight.

    In my opinion Indian Clubs are great, especially for mobility and coordination, core and grip strength, and especially effective for wrestlers and those recovering from shoulder injuries, but I don't think they're as good for strength training as kettlebells or sandbags. Yes, they're fun to work out with, but they're not that heavy to be honest, which makes them almost impossible for lower body training compared to other gym equipment in the form of weights. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that they are more of an equipment for people who are interested in Indian culture and a fad, rather than a must-have for everyone.

    Instead of ZMA...just go carnivore. Beef & other red meats are best, but especially if budget is a factor (and who is it not a factor for these days?!?!) chicken, pork, eggs, sardines, butter, even bacon. Only salt to taste. Only water. Cut caffeine to help reduce cortisol. Organic/free range/grass fed is again, best, but ANY meat is better than cheap, nutrition-less carbs.

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey 11 годин тому

      It's the load distribution. I mostly notice the difference in ballistic movements and overhead movements. The kettlebell weight sits behind the wrist and draws the shoulder back into the shoulder socket, stretching out the front of the shoulder as you lift. I love it.
